My First Pan de Sal :)

Pan de Sal is the most popular bread in the Philippines. In Spanish, Pan de Sal means "salted bread".  It is the favorite breakfast food of most Filipinos and you can eat it with different kinds of spreads like Peanut Butter, Liver Spread, Cheese Whiz, etc. You can eat it as it is or dip it in hot coffee or Milo! :)

So, I decided to make one at home.... and this would be my first time to make Pan de Sal and the result is okay but need to practice more.... as what the saying says "Practice Makes Perfect".   This is just a simple recipe and for sure will try it again next time!

PAN DE SAL

1  tablespoon active dry yeast
1  tablespoon white sugar
1 1/4  cups lukewarm water
1 1/2  teaspoons fine salt
3  tablespoons lard or corn oil
4  cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/3  cup sifted all-purpose flour for dusting
1  cup breadcrumbs for rolling

1.  In a large bowl, combine the yeast, 1 tablespoon of sugar and lukewarm water.  Mix well and cover with a damp towel.  Set aside for 10 minutes.

2.  After 10 minutes, add the rest of the ingredients except the 1/3 cup flour and breadcrumbs.  Beat with a wooden spoon until well incorporated.  Transfer the dough to floured surface and knead until smooth.  Transfer the dough to a greased mixing bowl.  Cover once again with a damp towel.  Allow to rise for 1 hour.

3.  Punch down the dough and form it into a log.  Slice it to smaller portions and roll in breadcrumbs. Arrange in greased cookie sheets.  Cover with a towel and allow to rise for another 30 minutes.

4.  Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

5.  Serve hot.

Melt butter in a pan. Add garlic. Cooked until slightly brown. Brush each piece of hotdog bread with a garlic mixture. To add color, add chopped spring onion, chopped parsley. or chopped fresh basil leaves.

Bake in the oven at 300F or in the oven toaster till golden brown.

Garlic Bread

This is my own version of Garlic Bread. I made it this morning and again in the afternoon . I don't have french bread so I just used American bread and Hotdog Buns.

I just mixed butter and garlic and sprinkled oregano on top... Then baked it... Try it! :)

Fried Chicken and Bacon Sandwich

It's one of the recipes we prepared in our class when I took up a Caregiver Course. It is just a simple recipe for kids that even adults will love.

Preparation time:  15 minutes
Cooking time:  10-15 minutes
Yield:  4 servings

Fry bacon.  Set aside. Coat 4 chicken breast fillets with 1 pack breading mix.  Pan-fry until done.  Set aside.  Have 4 hamburger buns.  Smear with bottled cheese spread.  Top with lettuce, fried chicken fillet and crisp fried bacon.
